Edit: looks like this a gen 3 pump. Shouldn't the only difference be the electrical connector?

Completely different and won't match up to any of the Cool Fuel 2 connections

First off - thanks for posting this photo as I have to replace my high pressure pump and can barely see the thing...can reach but limited visability.
Second, I ordered a pump on amazon which the Merc Manual says is compatible.- hoping it is the right one.
Third - is the connection to the cool fuel tube just an O-ring?

Yes, the small end just presses in place

yup. Pump is threaded on one end and not threaded on the other. Pushes into the cool fuel housing and I think it has an O-ring....but wont know until I take mine apart.

The end with the wires presses onto a nipple fitting with O rings Fuel Pump and Fuel Cooler
