But….it’s not the same cam is the summit one in question, so….i have nothing , really, for you.

Also, with stock exhaust ? Nope.
Not many (i really don’t remember any) have run any performance cam (218 at .050” or higher) , so you’ll have to do a real search to find some. I do remember a few using 212 at .050” comp cam marine extreme cams.
I run a Crower hyd roller 221/230 @.050" and 525/545 lift on a 1.5 rocker, 377 stroker with stock (GLM) exhuast and 4" thru hull. Over 300 hours on the motor to date. No reversion issues. Just a data point

What heads ?
reason for asking is the better exhaust port flows out, usually the better in also. :yack

dont know any thing about that cam but I have run 3 or 4 Summit flat tappet cams in the last few years. I used delphi hardened lifters and have never had failure on any of them. two were in different 454's in my jet boat and they both spent all their time at either idle or 5500 and they were not treated well but they held up fine. obviously they do not make them themselves and I dont know who grinds them for Summit but I have no complaints about them.

Skip White NKB heads with a 68cc chamber...About 9.7 to 1 compression....I having them build the bottom end 383 CI since their crew has like 200 years experience..Performer intake with a QJ....I think I'm just gonna get the comp 270 Marine cam..In for a nickel, in for a dime....Thx.

I hear ya..He actually has a good deal on a 383 short block..2900.00 not assembled....4 bolt main block, cast Scat crank and their 4130 rods and Wiseco forged pistons...He seems like he actually knows marine stuff...I didn't have much luck with Smelding....They don't like marine stuff and they weren't very open to the idea...As far as why I don't build it...Cost...I'm gonna have 2k in machine work on 2 bolt main block...thx.

I’d suggest an Performer Rpm over the standard Performer.

I don't mean to derail this thread, but to answer your question SB I have run two different sets of heads. First set were a pair of Dart Iron Eagle 165cc runner with 1.92/1.60 valves. No issues. Currently running some aluminum CNC AFR 195s with 2.05/1.60 valves.

Question...My old engine has a good set of knock off vortec heads... 1.94/1.5 that I mildly ported...Can't decide if want to sell that as a good running engine, rob the heads, or just pony up for some NKB aluminum heads...Not sure if I can get away with 9:7 CR on a cast iron head on 93 octane...They are obviously wuhan heads of somekind...They ran fine all of last season....Thoughts? appreciate it...
