Gonna get lazy on ya here....
My engine rebuild thread
It's a slog, if you take the time to read it all, which you obviously don't have to, but whatever pics I have will be here.
Engine is back out as we speak to find and fix a coolant leak, and a cam swap while it's out, and I'm addressing the fuel pump noise and doing a hydraulic steering conversion while it's out.
If you are facing a degrading fuel rail issue, or just wanna avoid one in the future, I can hook you up with a permanent fix.
Thanks. Brad.

Guys,
Finally got around to pumping my tank out, and thought I’d capture the pump noise after getting it rubber isolation mounted.
What we think? Is this just typical Weldon, or does it need a rebuild?
Thanks. Brad.

SB,
Yes. Tons of it. It’s hard to believe how much fuel this pump puts out. This was taken while I was pumping my tank dry to start the season with fresh fuel. As I understand it, Weldon’s are loud. Is your response an indicator you think it’s excessively loud?
Thanks. Brad.

Pretty much right there. I have a wire rigged up with a ring terminal on one end, that is connected directly to the battery, and the connecter that connects the ECM harness FP lead to the FP relay, with a momentary switch in between, that allows me to dump my tank manually. So, I was standing in the engine well, with the momentary switch in one hand and the phone, 24” away from the pump, in the other.
I guess what I’m looking for is advice regarding how likely a rebuild is to make it quieter, or is this just how Weldons sound.

Thanks. Brad.

The only time I notice mine is when I have the engine hatch up and turn the key to on. I hear a brief humming noise and then it stops. With the hatch closed I have to listen hard. Never noticed any noise after starting or while running.
Maybe a dumb question but mine is mounted low and horizontal by Eddie Young. Could your mounting position and location cause it to work harder and create more noise?

Jim at Weldon told me last year that it doesn't matter if it's horizontal or vertical, but they don't like to be mounted on a diagonal, for whatever reason. He told me today that, with it being an '08 unit, it is almost certainly up for a refresh. It appears to be in really good shape, externally. No signs of corrosion or salt exposure, but I have no idea the number of hours on it. He said the internals should be fine, as they don't wear out unless you run them dry, and the fact that it still makes and maintains pressure rules that out. It's primarily the bearings and seals in the pump that need replaced.
Thanks. Brad.
