I have a 272 SR-1 formula with twin 330's putting out 350hp with 25p Mirages turning tops in.
If I trim tabs and drives full down and push throttles up to 3000 RPM's and leave them there. I can't trim the drives and tabs fast enough to keep the bow of the boat from digging in.
You need to get some prop work done in a serious way.
Sounds like Houstonprop is on the right track.
Oh BTW I top out 1/2 tank of gas and 3 adults runs 71.5 on GPS.
Hope that gives you some #'s to work with.
I was thinking that the Formula is also heavier so your #'s should be better

Darin, I believe merc says 4800-5000, the tests I've read seem to be running best at the upper end.
Just don't want to be up against the limiter, 5000 would be good
then on a cold day it would still hit 5100
thanks.... john

Kind of off topic but....

Darrin,

What's your thoughts on the finish of the prop; polished or satin? The assumption I've had (based on others opinions) is that polished perform better because the are smooth (and of course they look good). I've recently heard that a satin finish actually perform better.

So, if you labbed 2 of the exact sames props in the same application and give one a polished finish and the other a satin finish, besides appearance, what differences might there be?
