Bravo 1 gear question
This question has been asked before I'm sure:
I have a pair of B1 drives, I think are 1:36 ratio . My question is this. How hard is it to change the gear sets in the drives to a 1:50 ratio? Are the gears in the lower or upper or both? Also, any ideas on cost? Have some downtime this winter for the work. Thanks in advance for the expertise.

If they are XR drives, the gear ratio is changed by the gears in the lower unit. If a non XR the top gears are changed to affect final drive ratio. As to cost, that would depend on the shop you take them to. SM Marine in Fort Lauderdale ran about 3 hours labor time per drive to change the lowers on my XR's if that helps you.
I have 3 sets of 1.50 lower gears for XR drives available. If anyone wants them before Christmas, just make your tax deductible check payable to Kids In Distress of Fort Lauderdale in the amount of $300 TOTAL and the gears are yours. I don't need the extra gears, you might, and the Kids sure need help, especially this time of year.
Thanks
