Crossover and thermostat housing install??
Just want to make sure I got it right......I am installing a waterpump crossover....from stainless marine that eliminates the circulation pump and a stainless marine thermostat housing that eliminates the Mercury housing that has 6 hoses going into it!!
The new one only has 2 hoses going to it......anyon know where I can get a diagram showing the plumming or explaination of how to do it. Stainless Marine has nothing in writing.....
Thank's
Mike

Gary,
Stock HP500 carburated, yes the thermostat housing and the crossover connect together via a smaller fitting guess thats the bypass. Stock Mercrusier by Gil..manifolds with the stock stainless risers...at the bottom af the manifolds there is a series of t-fittings that are connected together with hoses.....guess thats the pre-heat?
Thanks
Mike

Preheat routes the water through the exhaust manifold befor the engine. You would have an odd looking splitter that bolt where the circulating pump used to. I'm guessing you have the regular S/S fitting with 1 1/4" inlet that splits to two pipes that bolt to the water pump inlet holes. There is also a small 3/8"? oultet on this that point up.
Remove the water pump, thermostat housing, the 1 1/2" hose that connects these, and the 4 hoses that connect the Thermostat housing to the bottom of the manifold series of Ts and to the T in the hose between the maifold and riser. Don't remove the series of Ts at the bottom of the manifold.
Replace the manifold to riser hose and T with a single 1 piece hose. The T wont be needed. Gil sell these hoses.
Bolt on the crossover and thermostat housing with a 143 degree thermostat.
Routing:
Inlet, strainer, water pump, coolers, then to the 1 1/4" inlet of the new crossover. Connect the small tube between the Xover and thermostat housing. You need a couple hoses (3/4" or 1", cant remember) to connect the 2 oultlets of the thermostat housing to the previously used inlet at the bottom of the manifold. That's it.

Can you post a picture of that setup when you are finished? I had to do the same thing with my 454 mags after putting on Whipples on and have always wondered if I did it right. My exhaust seems very hot to me.
