Question Two To One Splitter Gear Boxes

Anybody know of manufacturers of two into one splitter boxes? I found one by Ultradynamics. Just wondering if there are any others out there.

Also any experience using them?

The idea is single diesel to two outdrives or surface drives.

Thanks,
Kirk

JUst curious as to why? Extra drag and efficiency losses of the second drive and gearbox it seems to me would be negative thing. Or do you need the manuverability the second drive gives?

37 foot steppped bottom performance center console.

Single deisel for cost factor and overall weight and space in boat.
Two drives for better handling and efficiency pushing hull. (possibly douprops)
Indepentent operation of F N R for each drive.
Reliablilty of having two drives vs. one.

With one 450hp +\- deisel, light composite hull, efficient step bottom it should run near 60mph, cruise at mid 40's burning 10gph.

Getting ready to build it.

IMCO is working on a "drive splitter" I think they used it on a drag boat. I will see If I can find the magazine.

How much is that Ultradynamics gearbox splitter? Would it go on a BBC?

My uncle is running a splitter. His app is a volvo diesel with twin volvo duo props. It's kinda wierd having two shifters and one throttle, but it did seem to work quite well. The boat was a 40' Dorado. I'll send him an e-mail and see if I can get some contact info...

www.ultradynamics.com Cool site, electromagnetic or hydraulic clutch for turbine use. Now you can have a turbine with a clutch and connect it to two bravo drives with F-N-R. Anyone have an interest?

Cord,
That is the kind of info I would like to find out about. What type of splitter is dorado using? I would like to talk to your uncle about his set-up and how he likes it. (horsepower, speed, efficiency, handling).

I am waiting to hear back from Dynamics on their prices. There must be some other manufacturers of them out there.

Thanks for the help,
Kirk

He must be out of country. He's been busting a@@ now that the missile defense shield is a go. I'll try sending him another e-mail after the new year.
