Question 38 top gun and big power

On a recent thread it was mentioned that a 38 top gun couldn't handle big power and # 6 drives. It seems to me I have seen quite a few with big power! Does anybody have an opinion on this? I would like to get the pros(oso members) opinon on this!!
Getting ready to install twin 1100 HP and # 6 drives on a 2000 top gun non stepped hull!!!!!

Non Stepped hulls are fine it's the stepped ones that can'nt handle it.

I have been on a non-step with staggered 1100HP Cobras/VIs. Incredibly solid.

It's the Twin-Step boats you need to be aware of.

The problem is balance over the steps. With #6 drives, you need a transmission which will position the engines about a foot forward. That's enough to set the boat off balance. This is the same reasoning that you can only order a Covergirl cabin with the Twin-Step.

Fo'real doh!!

Hey CIGAR,

Sounds like a nice project. Where around SoCal are you located? Do you currently boat in the ocean? If so, what kind of boat do you have now? Don't you go by another name on OSO?

Cigar,

I hope you can get it finished before spring and join us SCOPE guys on the ocean. IMOH, you will have one of the ultimate Top Guns anywhere. I ride in Dman's Top Gun regularly and have ridden in RUCKUS many times .... they both have 1000 hp's and #6s .... I'm ruined.

I am currently selling a Cafe Racer and plan to get into a Top Gun with some kind of Speedmasters, probably #3s or #5s with at least 750 hp.

Who's doing the rigging?
