As long as the props are not spinning the same direction you will be fine. As for in or out that depends on the boat. I would not bother with changing rotation if the boat handles good. There are other ways to gain speed. Try different props and pitches. You my even want to take your props to a prop shop to have them worked a little. Check the bottom of your boat for any chips and dings in the gell. If your running nose cones make sure that they are smooth and no chips in the epoxy that bond them to the drive. Allso check drive allighnment they need to be perfectly parallel. I run bravo 1s on my 34 scarab and they work great. I tried mirage 3 blades and couldnt even get on plane. They kept blowing out. As for direction mine spin inwards.

To answer the question , spinning in is faster, spinning out handles better

My port spins ccw and sb spins cw. Is this considered spinning out? I run mirages as well Tom M. and have a little trouble getting on plane with a 30' Scarab. I always though I just needed a little cupping adding at the tips of the blades, more like a mirage plus. May try that this year. You think my 30 footer would run faster with the blades spinning the other way?

Blue thunder,
Yes, this would be considered spinning out. I would reccomend leaving the rotation as it is and going with a 4 blade prop like a bravo one. If your running around 365 hp per motor I would go with a 24 inch this will get you in the high 60s with no problem getting on plane. Like I said my 23 mirages were just awful getting on plane, after about a mile or two getting on plan I didnt see any differance in top end. Get the four blades and work them if you like. I my have a set of 24s for sale soon to move to a higher pitch. Any questions you can e mail me.

Blue thunder,
I made a mistake about my rotation they spin outwards. I am dyslexic some time. lol.

Thanks Tom. I am expecting 425 to 450hp (per) this year and believe I will be needing at least 26p hydomotive or bravo 1s. Going to let testing be the decider. I spun 25p mirages to 5100 with 365hps. 25p mirages with 330s got me 4700rpm last year. 27p miragesshould now be and option as I believe mirages give the best top speed, but are harder to get on plane. I personally like the mirages other than out of the hole, but wish I could try bravos, just to see.

Blue thunder,
30' scarab is a real good hull. If you got any pictures send them my way. I have got a 34 scarab and just love the size and performance of it.

With 500hp a motor you will be able to spin 28 four blades and run close to or even 80mph. I know of a 87 panther with 500 hp motors TRS's and 28 four blades and he runs 80 on gps. For some reason that hull likes the four blade props, as due most scarabs our size.
