The LS-7 rod was floated and had a thin coating of tin??? to keep the wrist pin from galling. I seem to remember there was also a non-floated version. It was best to have bronze bushings fitted. An engine builder in New Orleans did some for me using the bushings for a Chrysler. I had an L-88 with those, and the factory recommended '7000 RPM for long distance use, 7,600 for short track or drag racing'.

Bulldog, the "dimple" rods are non-floating pin LS-7 rod with a couple less test steps done.

I had one of those rods break in half after only 15hrs after rebuild (magnifluxed etc..). The motors were only 625hp & I was turning 3100rpm at the time.
When I dropped the oil pan, I found pieces of block, cam, piston & valve. Total loss.
GO FOR THE FEW EXTRA BUCKS & get some Manlys or something.
