Naca vents?

Has anyone ever found Nascar style Naca vents that will replace the old rectangle vents that most of us have? I remember a thread a long time ago that someone was going to make some.....did it ever happen?

I think I started that thread a while back. Man that was like a LONG time ago. I never did wind up doing anything yet. There were a few suggestions as to were you can get them.

Somebody on the board had some NACA ducts glassed into the hull sides to feed the motor. Can't remember who, but when I see his name, I'll come back and post it.

Do a search on Naca vents and you will find a few topics. I had to do it after seeing Ray's links I could not picture how they would look on a boat. NICE on the above link.

I was hoping that someone made one that would fit over the existing holes that are in our boats tthat way we wouldn't have to glass anything in.....

There's a guy here in Richmond that was making them, and then he didn't get any interest so he dropped the project. I just spoke to him on the phone - his name is Steve - and he's willing to start back up again if anyone is interested. You can email him at [email protected]

Here's one he made, but he also can make the rectangle kind.

NACA is an acronym for the "National Advisory Counsul of Aeronautics" and was the predecessor to today's NASA...

They, of course were involved in all aspects of Aeronautical Science and Aviation and developed one of the largest databases on Fluid Dynamics and flight mechanics.

The inlets, diffusers and ducts you see today on many race cars, boats, and aircraft are decendants of those developed during the pioneering days of aviation and space travel.

Of course, through marketing, costing, and pure ineptness in design, most of the ducts you buy today off the shelf at these "Ricer Go-fast" shops have little in common with the real thing.

Hell, most of them when alalyzed or tested perform rather poorly and don't deserve to be associated with the term NACA...

Choose wisely.

those are exactly what I have been looking for, but wasn't sure what they were called. Now add them to these ram air boxes and you have some nice cool air for the motor, not that stale air.
