OT 99 Silverado having trouble firing when cold
#11
I agree with airpacker about the poppet's sticking. I have run
into this numerous times causing a flooding condition & a
rough idle on cold starts. I have to mention though that in
99 vortechs they no longer use spiders. The injectors are now
individual & run about $80.00. GM has a tsb out on this problem
and claim the poppet's can be cleaned but you need to apply 150 lbs
of pressure. (special gm tool)

I had the same problem with my 6 litre, 99 2500 4X4. I took it to three dealers and each one said something different. Finaly when it died on one of the service managers at a stop light he agreed to reprogram the computer. Didn't help much and that was 2 years ago. By the way, what is the difference in the new 340hp 6.0 litres and my 300hp 6.0 litre? Can I buy a new "chip" to get more HP?
Thanks,
Ted

Have you guy's heard, (or tried) the HP Mass Airflow Sensor? They advertise them in Jeg's. I think they are manufactured by Granatelli Motorsports. $300+ I think. They say it takes 10 minutes to install. 15% HP increase. What do you guys think?
