It just happened to me, couple months ago.
The ONLY thing wrong was the grease fittings hadn't been charged. Couple bucks vs $800 or so.
The visible symptom was aluminum shavings between the engine and outdrive, inside the transom.

Man, here's the deal. Both engines were f*%ing loose!
There were no tabs bent over the nuts to lock them in place. The front and rear bolts on each mount on both of the engines were up at least 1/4 inch. There was no alignment! Looks like someone at Baja had his/her (politically correct) head up their ass!
All I can say is - check them nuts
