Doc and Tony, that looks great!

Tony, I'm still looking for just the right project for those drives.

Just to show you how simple it is, Tim and I did the install in our spare time about 20 hours including filling the old holes.

When the sales Dept can do it any one can

My only question is regarding Tony and Tim with the rubber gloves??? Is that really resin in the pot Tim?

Looks great! And, how does it run???

Interesting project! Looking at the 'after' picture, it looks like the "swim platform" over the drives is hinged (or otherwise articulated). I'm assuming that it moves with the drives, right? If so, can each drive be trimmed individually, or is the whole shootin' match moved as one unit?

Can't wait to see how these things perform....

PULSEDRIVE 05-06-2003 10:23 AM

The hole drive system trims as one

the aft underside of the drive works as a big trim tab at slower speeds hold the bow down and gets the boat on plane faster.
the curve underside of the housing directs water flow under the boat when backing allowing better thrust giving greater maneuverabilities

Have a look as www.pulsedrive.net for more info or call me direct at 954 788 0810

Tony Mills

P.S mongo, the gloves are to keep my hands silky smooth, the late nights alone with Tim and resign fumes haven't pushed me to the other side

Any test time yet?

Zero Cavity 05-08-2003 09:39 AM

Panther:
Testing this weekend, and next week. we will report the results here.

Audiofn 05-09-2003 02:19 PM

Wow looks good. You going to leave both swim platforms on?

Primal Instinct 05-10-2003 07:49 PM

Hey Doc,

Boat looks great!!! Can't wait to run with you again in the Keys this Fall!

Curtis

Zero Cavity 05-12-2003 11:52 AM

Audifm: I am keeping the aluminum swim platform and the "other" one is actually part of the drive.

Curtis: Thanks for the compliments, I know you were thinking of doing the same, now just wait for my results and maybe you can do the same.

HebertNecessity 05-15-2003 04:41 PM

Well tell us, don't keep us in suspence!

Well ???

Zero Cavity 05-15-2003 09:43 PM

Could not finish the boat last week so testing this weekend. Be patience my friends, you guys will be the first.

HebertNecessity 05-22-2003 04:01 PM

????? Paging Doc! Just keeping this alive.

SonicBoom 05-23-2003 09:13 PM

Just curious Doc, why this drive versus Arneson Surface Drives? I don't know much about surface drive except the ability to increase speed, more fuel efficient, durable.

HebertNecessity 05-30-2003 11:24 PM

Got to keep this alive! Tony, Mongo, Doc?

imongo 05-31-2003 06:50 PM

Don't know any news from this weekend. I know he is having a nagging fuel leak problem...

Mongo

Zero Cavity 06-02-2003 02:25 PM

Went out testing on Saturday and found that the fuel pump regulator was crack and leaking fuel.
On Sunday we got it fixed and now the port engine is acting up and today we will change to the original ignition box and test again.
So far the drive is GREAT:

1) I go on plane faster and easier with no need to use the trim tabs.
2) My children are save now when we go to the beach , they now go on board through the drives.

Top speed is not there yet and we will try bigger props in two weeks.

joe900sc 06-12-2003 12:27 PM

Any updates on the Pulse drive conversion??? I saw your ad in the new powerboat mag and it didn't list the pulse drives.

Please share the perforance difference.

Zero Cavity 06-12-2003 01:02 PM

We will try different props this weekend and I will let you guys know.

DR. Santiogo..........

What did you do with the old #3's?

The yellow would look pretty trick on my purple transom. Plus I keep having problems with the TRS not hold power.

Thanks

Zero Cavity 06-17-2003 11:21 AM

OBNOXUS21:

I sold them to someone with TRS with the same problem you have.

Primal Instinct 06-17-2003 11:44 AM

Hey Doc,

How is the project coming? Anymore on the water tests? Please keep us posted!

With this weather I have not been able to do more testing. Hopefully this weekend.

Panther 06-24-2003 04:30 PM

I saw the boat in Ft. Meyers, it truly is a nice looking setup.

The props looked a little thick, any chance of getting the props labbed?

Let us know how she goes?

HebertNecessity 06-25-2003 11:03 AM

Doc, Saw your boat @ pulse, looks great! Good luck with the new drives I think you'll love them.
I liked you new exhaust tip, how are they?

Hugh

Zero Cavity 06-26-2003 07:36 AM

HebertNecessity:

The exhaust tips are great, finally I can run the boat without ear plugs.

Hey Good Doctor,

How is the project coming? We will be back down in Florida for Stu's Key West run in November. Can't wait to run with you again buddy!

Curtis

jody165 01-17-2004 11:23 AM

I am curious how this worked out. Is there another thread that comments on the final results?

Boatlesss 01-17-2004 08:03 PM

I watched this thread when it first started wanting to see what the results were.

I take it by their silence that the project has not been a success.

I guess if they had gone faster they would have stated this by now. Same conclusion about the other customer that posted here from the Bahamas they’ve never said they went any faster.

imongo 01-17-2004 09:32 PM

I'm running 70.5 @ 5000 rpm with my rig. Pair of 520's. I'm shaving a little more cup off to get to 5300. Should see 73-75 (GPS, BTW). How many Cafe's with that HP go that fast? Maybe Boatless should get one (a boat) and try for yourself...

Mongo

Payton 01-18-2004 09:50 AM

imongo, impressive results!

I hope you are having a great winter. if you remember what winter is. ;) :D
