Default What is the best way to check plugs?

I had the carbs rebuilt by Nickerson this winter. I have yet to water test the boat but when I do, what is the best way to check the plugs after a WOT run? I have read/heard to shut down at WOT throttle to check, but that does not sound good to me. Do I back off quickly, then shut them down and check?

I know this question sounds a little dumb but......

Thanks

Just pull the throttle back like you normally would come down to idle and shut the motor off.
