Trailor Brakes/Box in truck
Not real sure how to ask what I need to know but here goes...I have a 25 ft 4200lbs of boat to tow. The tow vehicle is a 03 Alvalanche with 4 wheel disc, Z71 off-road package, towing package and is rated to tow 7200 lbs. Do I need to install the "brake box" in the truck to assist stopping?? I tow very seldom and just need to cross a 4000 foot mountain when I go anywhere. The trailor is a Eagle with drum brakes, dual axles. All towing is on four lane highway. If I do which brand is the best...Thanks

This may help you. I have an '02 2500 HD Chevrolet XCAB. The trailer is a new triple axle aluminum with single axle disc brakes. I didn't want more than one axle of brakes, I feel that too much braking from the trailer can negatively impact handling when you brake. I towed my '38 Cigarette up from Florida to Maryland non-stop with no problems. So surge brakes should be fine for you.
