I had this problem and tried a TON of things Ended up it was a bad cap. Switch them if you have twins or buy 2 or 3 and try new one there only $6 each.

1 - Swap caps.
2 - Try Merc Hi-Performance gear lube.
3 - As the fluid cools after use is the level lower each time? If so, might be a leak. If there is a leak (seal or gasket) it can also suck air and cause foaming. Mine did when the input shaft seal failed.

Good luck!

I have heard its water foaming up when it over flows the color of the oil will change if its water. On my old Scarab with a blown motor and it had a Imco drive on it with alysyn syn oil in it, it would foam up ,it was the oil ,i put merc oil in it and it quit. My Hustler has B-Maxs on it and they come with a larger reservoir and only put 1 inch of oil in it and it foams about 1 more inch when you run it hard .i use amsoil in it.. but no problems with it, when the air settles it goes back down. Someone else said it just the syn type oil that does it.make sure on the drive the oil passage between the foot and top align up theres a orange seal there.i have heard they can get water in from there. good luck.
