Default Broken housing on lower unit

When pulling my sonic out of the water this weekend i found the housing where the drive shower goes through was cracked and the shower just hanging there. I did not hit anything all weekend. After a few *&%!#@, i relaxed and tried to figure out what the hell happened. The boat was launched a few times on sunday in choppy water. Could the pressure of re-entry snap the shower from the housing? More importantly, how should i fix it? Can it be welded , and should i weld the shower into the drive or weld the drive and re-drill the hole?

Thanks

Are you talking about the cavitation plate? If so it can be welded. I have never heard of one cracking unless you backed into something!

YOu got something between the prop and the shower and it popped the hole out the side.
Weld it up and redrill the hole.
Check your prop - I bet you have a slightly bent blade.

I'll second that! Maybe the shower slipped down and the prop hit it. There should be some marks on something if this happened. No marks=a piece of wood or a fish got caught between the prop and the pickup.

No big deal to weld a new piece in. Now tie your shoes
