Yes it will work. XZ has the 1inch propshaft, and a heavier Vertical shaft.
no cons!

I have 1999 Bravo HP's with low water pickups on a 35' Fountain (single step). What is the best fix for the lwp blues? I have been told that my boat does not really need lwp's and that conventional side water pickups would work fine.
I have also been told that mods can be made to my drives involving drilling additional holes in the location where the side pickups would normally be. This supposedly would relieve some of the suction on the lwp holes and reduce the tendency to suck sand, mud and debris from the botton. But I am not ready to take a drill to my drives just yet.
