Thanks Don. You feel like turning wrenches on mine sometime? Wesco is going to dyno one for me as soon as I get one out.

Fred, I found out from Zanie recently that he's bought engine stuff from the guy I get stuff from. Small world here on OSO.
Dyno, I'll keep you posted. You want to be there when Dave tries his best to blow my engine to itty-bitty pieces?

Fred, that is a nice camshaft except for the 114 LSA. If it were at 110 you would have a much more powerful engine (by at least 15-20 horsepower). Use a camshaft with less duration (especially on the exhaust) and a tighter LSA.

If you are still worried about reversion, install some Crane Hi Intensity hydraulic lifters with your new camshaft. They bleed down at idle to shorten your camshafts duration. I have used them and they work well.

With all due repect to Dennis, I have used the edelbrock torker 2 cam for many years with good results. it is 224, 232, 527, 553, at 114 degrees timed at 106. It seems to work very well on mild compression (8.5-9)454 engines with a single plane manifold (torker also). I have used an adjustable timing sprocket to see what worked best and the 4 degree advanced gave the best power at 5000 rpm. Do what you will, but I run the Gil magnum choice pipes and I was very leary of running any more overlap since they introduce the water very early. For sure the closer sep will make more power but scary with the reversion. My .02

Formula 31
I think the Edelbrock Torker II cam is a great replacement for the stock camshaft. I have used a few of these on stock rebuilds and it really makes Mercruiser 454 Magnum engines come alive and they idle as smooth as the stock cam.

Fred, 260 bucks for cams, lifters and timing chain sets.
And because I don't handle the money you need to send the check directly to him. Let me know what you decide to do. By the way, these cams are on a 110 LSA. I'll be glad to run the numbers through Desktop Dyno 2000 for you.
