I'll look again when I get home. I could be wrong. and if you don't need the timing chains the cost of the springs is just about a wash. You really need to check your springs to see if they're usable. If I remember right the FM springs for those cams are 115 lbs. on the seat. I'll double-check that too. Call me at home sometime after 3:30 today. By the way, today is Friday. Just in case you forgot,,,,,,

Taking springs to be checked tonight, they appear from preliminary checks to be twice as strong as they are recommended for the cam....Fred

that's pretty common. at least around here it seems to be. I think springs are about 52 a set. I just looked and the springs are [email protected] inches, [email protected] inches.

Crane cam part #132561
look on www.cranecams.com for spec card.....Fred
The cam you listed is the stock Merc cam in the 400, 420 and 525SC engines.

Crane also makes nearly the identical cam #134241 with a 112 lobe sep.
The rest of the #'s are very close.

226/236 and .534/.553 on a 112 lobe sep.

I used this cam in the 454 mag in Baja and it has a slight lopey idle and pulls strong to 5500 rpms. Just ask Outlawcowgirl, she owns the boat now.
Also, its half the price of the Merc replacement. It was about a $140 in the kit form (part #134242) from Summit Racing. The kit includess the cam, lifters, lube and lock plate.

Just saw that you said you had stock Merc exhaust.

I would be carefull going with anything less than a 114 with stock exhaust. I had Imco's so I don't know if it would revert with stock exhaust.

So what happens when the LSA is lower (110 instead of 114) the chance of reversion is greater?....Fred

As I understand it Fred, yes. But the horsepower gains from running a 110 cam vs. a 114 cam in a naturally aspirated engine is noticable. You still thinking of adding blowers in the future? If so, staying with a 114 cam will be the way to go.
