Houston Prop Makes Perfomance Happen!!

I want to make sure everyone knows what a great job Darin at Houston Props can do.

I sent him my 19 Mirage stainless prop late last year with all three blades bent over and when I got it back it was BETTER than new.
I got to test run the new prop on my boat this weekend and it made a huge difference in the performance of the boat. Base on what I told Darin on how the prop performed on the boat he made the adjustments to make it perform better. The biggest problem I had with the prop was cavitations when trimming and when turning, now the prop does not want to leave the water, it acts like it is a four blade, which I was thinking of switching to but did not want to lose the speed. Now I have the best of both worlds and don’t have to compromise. My topd end did not increase much, but we all want that extra 2 or 3 miles an hours, and i got it!

Thanks Darin!!

Darin, I tested the prop Friday and it looks like it will need a slight refinement.

The air temp was right at 90. The boat is a monster out of the hole. Unreal and zero blow out. I hit 69@ 5000~5050RPM (GPS) but the boat really has a porpoise issue now. It seems that any positive trim I give it at WOT will make it porpoise wildly. It was a real handful at speed.

Will taking out some cup fix that? I will give you a shout Monday to discuss.

Also, midrange was fantastic and cruise speed great (50~55 mph).

Thanks...

Darin

prop was shipped on Wednesday this week, sorry ,it was a four bld to start with, we reduced cupping and the rpm will come up ,also we thickend the trailing edge for more stern lift.this will do it.;)

Darin,
It was nice talking to you yesterday. I will ship my prop for the 25ft Outlaw today. If you would drop me a note when you get it so I know it is safe. I look forward to seeing what you can do with it. I read allot of great things about your work. (2002 Baja Outlaw w/496 HO Mag -- 23p Labbed Mirage Plus)

Thanks.
