Don't forget to tape off your lower water pickup if you have dwp. Also helps to have an assistant on the hose cock.

Good point, I should have mentioned that because it seems like Mercruiser seawater pumps are so easy to burn up if you don't have enough water. I have heard there are aftermarket ones that are more durable but haven't found any. And my wife usually handles the hose cock!
