As long as on the subject how much more power does it take to maintain the same speed if let’s say you swapped out from 3’s to 6’s. Or is it minimal.

I had a chart of how much power drives take and now can`t find it .
I believe it was 75hp to turn a #5.. probably close to the same with a wet sump #6

A #6 drive is 285 pounds dry. The #6 transom assembly is about 250 pounds depending if it’s a drive line or close coupling.

{"I believe the wet sump six was 55 to 70 hp loss, depending on the input rpm, gear lube and oil fill level. When we designed that drive back in 1986, before my company was part of Mercury, we did not have the tools to measure accurately. We were thankful to have a drive that could handle the horsepower. When we finally had the tools, we were disappointed to learn that the losses were higher than we expected. We then developed the dry sump six."

Fred Kiekhaefer}

A wet sump #6 takes almost 90 hp to turn it 7000 rpm.
