More information. Also you may want to use a stud kit as an option.

i agree with you formula, now as i mentioned will receive another package next week but this time they have all necessary lengths for each bolt (3 diferent size required)
we'll see....

by the way what do you call the turns on the bolt?

My suggestion of cutting the bolt shorter was solely dependent upon the length of available threads. But from his reply, I take it they start below the head/block surface, at which point I agree it is best to wait for the next order try. IF the threads would have extended into the head, cutting the bolts to correct length would have been ok. I was under the impression that the MK4 454's had thru holes?

The turns are called threads.

Want all the info on bolts? such as pitch, tpi, major and minor dia's, pitch dia's, grade, classes, and tons more terms that describe the threads. And I bet you thought a bolt was just a fine or coarse thread.

Post the results for next weeks purchase try.

Sorry you are having so much trouble. On my newer merlins they have the 4 head bolts that are above the exhaust port raised so I needed a 5" long bolt when the washer was installed,is it the same on your heads.I ordered the bolts from World and the washers were a manley product. On mine the stock head bolt measures 4" long and that is with the built in shoulder. The ARP bolts that I have measures 4" with there washer installed.Do you know what size bolt you need I have plenty of ARP sitting around.

Timucin,

Do you have and stock head bolts laying around to see how they fit? I have a brand new take off set of headbolts for a mark 6 if anyone wants them.

I got a brand new GM motor over the summer and it cam with stock heads. I removed the heads, put on the Merlins, put in my cam and was ready to rock and roll.

If anyone wants the bolts email [email protected]. I will sell for $25 plus shipping.

Panther.
