Hello ladies and gentalmen I love the site. I am new to power boating and I have a opportunity to Aquire a 1981 Sleek Craft Enforcer 30 (updated and refinished in 1998) it has twin Johnson 300 GP's (rebuilt in 2003 not VRO's).Does anyone know of any history on these boats as far as quality and reliability? Would it be a decent first big boat. I have a 20 foot pro v fishing boat so I am not new to boating, just bigger faster boats. It seems like it would be more fun since the fish quit biting about 15 years ago. Does anyone have a rough idea what I should pay for this boat. It looks sharp everything seems to work. Any info would be helpful. Thanks again I will keep my eyes on replys.

I have owned two Sleek Craft boats and both were nice boats. They are typical of their generation in that they are heavy. I owned two 21 ½' Jr Executives and both were 70's models built by Nescher. They both had 454 with Jacuzzi pumps which I converted to American Turbine mixed flow pumps with hydraulic divertors. The general fit and finish was pretty good and I enjoyed mine for several years. The older Sleeks don't have great resale or bluebook value but that just means to me that better deals can be had. You should be able to get a great deal on the boat you're looking at and if it's solid and the motors are decent you should enjoy it lots. I'm not an outboard person, but lot's are and maybe others on OSO can add some info on those motors.

Get a marine servey done. For your own info as your insurance company, they will most likely require it.

i had a 28 sleekcraft enforcer for a few years. it was a 87 with 330hp 350 smallblocks with alpha drives, was a great river lake boat we loved it,, but I took it out a few times in the rough my buddy had a 29 fountain and thats when i realized that it was not an offshore boat i spider cracked the bottom and everything would rattle loose. its nice fun boat but depending onwhere u are going boating. i think the down fall was didnt have much v and it would pound and flex like crazy,
depending on what u are looking to do,? if u dont want to spend alot of money look for a 10 meter fountain, formula scarab etc. its such a buyers market with alot of inventory out there dont setlle for the 1st boat u look at.. that is what i did, do some research go for some rides see the difference,

I own (trying to sell) a 20' SleekCraft. 1988 hull. It has been a great boat. They make solid hulls, but as stated above these are lake/river boats. SleekCraft hulls are generally pretty flat. My boat has a really low freeboard and a mod-v hull that was designed for speed, not ride comfort or dryness. I've taken a few waves over the bow on a river channel!

Actually I plan to use it in Minnesota on the White Fish chain of lakes. I don't expect to see much in the way off large swells or rollers. I never saw anything rough enough that my Lund Pro V couldn't handle at top speed. I have been looking for a boat like this for about a year, and this boat really seems to fit my buget, not to mention it belongs to a freind of mine. I know it was cared for I just know very little about the power boats in general. All the information I find is on newer boats that I simply can not afford.
All the info I am getting is great it is the most I have got from anywhere. I am truly excited about the prospect of expirenecing what I have read about on this web sight. Again thanks to all.

I had a '87 260 enforcer w/ 454 that the stringer broke on in my opinion this was a bad design going into the cabin was held together with a smoked piece of plexiglass looked good but not structural stringer separated right there. see if the guy will let you peel the carpet back to take a peek.
