batteries

I have a boat with 2 batteries, and 2 selector switches where should you keep the selector switches
1 or 2 or both or does it matter
electrical1 is offline

yes it does matter.... you should have one switch on 1... and the other on 2... because if you have two charging systems... you want to seperate them... Twin engine... twin charging system ... twin batteries?
