Although I never owned a 22 Pachanga, I boated with two guys for several years that owned them. Both had 454/330's but one had Bravo and one Alpha. They were 3-4 years apart in manufacture. The Alpha was just a little faster on top end. It also broke twice while we boated over the course of 5-6 years.

My experience is that you can't really afford to hook up the Alpha as well as is possible with today's props because of the lack of drive strength. That is, although there are plenty of props that can potentially improve performance, the Alpha just can't safely use the extra bite. There's probably a good prop guy that can improve top end, but low end might suffer.

By the way, the Alpha would run 60 mph easy.

Had a P22 with a 383 SBC and 350hp. Best overall prop was 21 Mirage, boat topped out at 62mph GPS @ 4900 rpm. Best topspeed though on that boat (and thats the experience of at least 3 other P22s) is with the original 21 Cleaver...but nowadays not the way to go (poor acceleration and blow out in turns)
I would try Darins accelerator, cant go wrong there...Just my 2 cents..
Great boat, have fun...BTW never had issues with my Alpha, but that was SBC torque....

I had serious problems keeping a Mirage hooked up with a 454 and Bravo. The Q-IV hooked up nicely and never blew out for me all summer long. Might be lots of props that would work, but you would have to prove them to me right now.
I had such good luck with the Q-IV.
Repowering this winter and will be trying a 27 Q-IV to start with and working from there.

Hard to go a way from something that has worked. Most Pachangas with a Bravo have a higher than normal X-dimension and need a prop that lifts the stern not the bow.

Which is why the Q-IV works well with it. May have Julie try a few tricks once I get the right pitch dialed in this spring. Can not say enough about the service I have received from Throttle-up. Even if I just called with questions Julie spent as much time with me as was needed to find out what would work best with my boat. She called Hydromotive to find out what would work and was awesome to deal with!

My neighbors been running a 21p Spinelli cleaver on his '87 P22 / Alpha for 10 years. 68 MPH on any day, 71 on a good day. Stock 330 - 454.

Anyone have any thoughts on a Bravo1 4 balde 15 1/8 x 24? It's been labbed, but would it be too much wheel for my application. I found one locally for $250.00 which seems to me to be a pretty good deal.

I run that 24 Bravo on my 23' SeaRay with 385hp 454. I like it much better than the 3 blade 23 picth Mirage that it replaced. It planes quicker and planes at a slower speed, and handles good in the corners. The rpms with the Mirage were too high.

Now the only problem is, I think that this 24 pitch 4 blade is just a little too much pitch for me. My WOT rpms are around 4750 right now. I am thinking about having a little pitch taken out of it.
