Hynautic steering by Teleflex???
 

I was on the "other" site and some people were talking about a hydraulic helm by teleflex whats the story with them? are they better than the stock cable crap most people have? Could you upgrade an existing cable setup with this and be better off? When steering fails what usually breaks? the cables? Hey my boats a 93 and the steering needs some help but don't have the scratch to add a full hydraulic set up would this fit the bill??? I see that they call it SeaStar now but you can buy it for $750....

I had the Helm unit fail on mine.Lost all steering coming into PIB after runninh hard in 4-5s !!....No question after that...I will NEVER be without full Hyd. again !!!

"Hynautic by Teleflex"? Didn't know that Hynautic was associated with teleflex.
Most of the teleflex stuff is for OB.
Most hynautic is for OB or inboard. I did have a Hynautic system (non power assisted) on my 38 Scarab. Very good quality but none of the chrome, polished stuff you see on Latham etc.
Their external cylinders were very strong, 7/8" S/S rod if I remember correctly. Again not shiney but they would be my first choice for external hydraulic.
I later changed out the manual to a power assist Charlyn unit. Worked great.

I would add a hydraulic ram using your existing cable setup. It will eliminate most of the slop that is present in the steering mechanism. The only slop that will remain will be in the cable and helm.

My bad, looks like Teleflex, Morse, and Hynautic are all one company now.
BTW, dyno, are you planning on external or internal hydraulic steering? What's the application? Single or twin bravo?

Twin Bravo....If I can get away with an internal set-up that would fill my needs much cheaper I'd go that route..

Gary-I think they merged about 2 years ago.

Dyno-It'll still cost you a couple of k, but there is a twin ram imco setup for sale on the board. I spent 4k for my single drive twin ram setup and this one was significatly less.

No Dyno....I had the Add on System,Like Cord mentioned.I dont know about the Hynautic...Just DONT do the Add On !!!!....PM Allen4 about Xs systems...
After my failure & near VERY bad experience with Add on systems I am VERY nervous about anything but FULL Hyd.....

Cord the seastar is $750 it replaces the cables and helm only you need to buy the lines also looks like another $150
