Post Re-setting hour meter?

Is there a way to reset a mechanical hour meeter? I repowered and would like to start at -0- again. I know I could buy a new one but would like to save a few bucks. - Ray

That would be a bad thing ! There'd be a lot of people turning them back. Just note hours some where.

Put some juice to it and stop it when it turns to zero.

A mechanical hour meter? What does it hook up to to check for running time?

Is it mechanical, meaning analog and not digital. I think that it will turn hours anytime the key is in the run position.

Like hotbeek said You can just give it the the proper voltage(probably 12, but check manual) and it will turn.

I don't know about yours, but my gaffirg will take an awfully long time to return to zero.

i think you'd have to take it apart like turning back the odometer in a car. they aren't meant to be zeroed out.

If you've got 510hrs now, hook it up to power for 490hrs and it'll be back to zero. 490hrs= 20 days+

NO they can't be reset .What I like to do is leave it there so you know how many hours are on the boat and get new ones by the motors to keep track of the new engines . Good selling point too . UNless you have 1000 hours already then just through it away !
