Default No water coming through drive with hose????

I have a 90 26' scarab w/ bravo drive I started for the first time and no water to the motor. I was using drive muffs with the hose. Well I pulled the water pump to rebuild but it did not look that bad, was super tight with no water in it, and I don't think it ever started to spin when I started the boat. Well I hooked the muffs up to the drive with the water pump off ( so open hose from drive to the engine compartment ) and it wont make it! If I put the hose in the engine end of the water pump hose it will come out the drive! ????? Is this normal I have seen muffs on a alpha drive that the water would make it thouugh the engine with out starting it...

Yeah, I've seen that before and it drove me nuts , particularly since I was chasing down an overheating problem. Seems as though the muffs leaked too much to raise the water through the drive

I had a clamp on the muffs and the hose removed right at the bravo's transom elbow inside the engine comp. and still no water. The pick up hose does not look kinked by the gimble. ???? could somthing be stuck in the pick up in the drive it self.

Take the hose off the gimbal assembly in the bilge and stick the hose in there start the motor and see how flow is. Behind that plastic elbow that the hose came off is an internal hose retainer that collapses and doesn't let water flow.
