I'm currently tearing down a merc II transmission and I need some help and advice. This is my first post on this site, and have search through the entire site and have found it to be quite helpful.
I'd like to be able to get in touch with "marinetrans" who is from the northeast.
I've got the Mercruiser service manual that details the entire teardown and rebuild, so I think I can pull this off on my own, but would be willing to pay someone If they can help.
Can I get a seal kit for this? I currently having problems removing the forward piston hougin from the planetary. I was able to remove the snap ring, but the forward housing won't budge. Any ideas?
How much of this transmission can I get from ford? My inner pump element has a hairline crack starting at the woodruff key. The pump housing is in very good condition.
Any help would be great.
Marinetrans, can you help??
Thanks, Jim

The pump cracking is common on these things. Unfortunatly they are VERY expensive for what they are....
You can get the seal kits still and the clutch plates from just about any trany shop.

I have 4 of these transmissions in various states (3 work, 1 is parts), including one new pump assembly.
I'm looking to unload all or a just a few parts, as I am converting my boat to bravos.
Give me a call, maybe I can help you out.

I would strongly suggest that you contact Zanie! MerCtrans II stuff is getting scarce and expensive from Merc. The pump part you need is only available new if you purchase the whole pump assembly for something like 800 scoots. --- Jer
