I have a pair of '89 vintage 454's that have been toyed with so they are around 400hp. The builder replaced all of the ignition components with what amount to "stock" pieces- ie, they are Mercruiser. I do not have any rev limiters and would like the added safety. Can an MSD limiter be added to this set-up or is there another solution? Any help appreciated.

yep,
you can put an msd soft touch right in there without issue.. MSD makes two flavors.. one for MSD ignition and one for NON MSD ignition.. you want the NON version.. comes with wiring diagram and all... unless you want to limit the rpm at 6000 and above you'll have to purchase a 5000 - 6000 rpm chip set for each soft touch you install... unless you want to limit the engines unevenly (say one at 5200 and the other at 5400, etc).
did this on my mouse before i went full MSD.. worked fine wiht the TBOLT IV...
