Mercury and Livorsi controls both have switches in the handles... I had mine connected to the drive trim motors rather than the tabs... but you can "add on" switches.

so say by using the trim up or down switch on the throttle control you could use this same set up for the tabs ?

They are connected to the panel switches straight in front of the control.
If you want them to affect the tabs, just connect them to the tab switches instead.

Re: trim tabs adj. from throttles ?
Here is my plan for a winter upgrade
I will be changing out the throttles and going with the twin switch. Currently have one switch for both drives. and as previously stated, they do not move together.
I have a cat with a single center tab. I am going to use current single switch on the throttle for the tab.
So I will have the two on the throttles for each drive along with the single on the left throttle for the tab.
All easily reachable.
You could very easily do this with your tabs. They make a double clamp on switch for your throttle handle.
BTW, I currently have another single switch on the steering wheel for the tab now, and I am not sure if I am going to keep it there or remove it.
this is my tab switch currently
Here is what is on my throttle for both dirves

Go here for the Livorsi model, about half way down the page, all white.
http://www.livorsi.com/catalog/controls_throttles.htm
The trim adjustment for your drive(s) is in the head of the lever, just normal.
The trim TAB adjustments are mounted to the shaft of the lever.
Adjust your drive with your thumb.
Adjust your tabs by extending your index finger forward.
Fred from Trick Marine can give you the best price on these. www.trickmarine.net -I know because I just got the quote to order mine.
They only come in white and have to be ordered as the entier unit from Livorsi, this isn't an add-on.

Re: trim tabs adj. from throttles ?
dam, that is similar to what I will be doing
However I do not care for the long reach and square format of the switch.
However, it will work with what 26Sonic is asking to do.
I myself am not favorable of the white or black only option
I also want to look into the type of shifters that are on a Cig I road in this past weekend. It had the drive switches in the front of hte handle built into the handle itself. Looked very trick, but would like to look closer at them before a decision is made
