Anyplace that sells Merc parts can get you an alignment tool. I got mine on Ebay.

If you are purchasing one, get the ITS tool. It can be used for any Bravo (including the ITS) and is easier to use.

Please forgive the blatantly commercial response but we sell the standard tool , PN 805475A1 for $90.88 and the ITS tool PN 840965A1 for $107.25. I know we have a skid of the standard tools on the shelf, not sure about the ITS but I will get some in ASAP.

The prices go from 50 bucks to over a 100? whats the difference in the tool? Something's got to be different. What is it?

The ITS alignment tool has a "slide" to slip into the gimbal bearing. You can slip the alignment tool into the engine coupler without the slide in the bearing, leaving clearance between the alignment shaft and the bearing. If the clearance is tight, or less between the top side of the alignment shaft and the gimbal bearing, you need to raise the front of the engine and of course the opposite is true if it is tighter below the alignment shaft. You still use the slide to check the angular alignment of the bearing to the center of the coupler. With the standard tool some use grease on the coupler end of the shaft to "try" to tell which direction the engine should move. It works pretty well, you can tell which direction the front of the engine really has to go to get the alignment right, it's not just a go, no-go gauge.
