Re: What's the best marine battery?
I am also looking to replace my 3 yr. old battiers and I have found that the AutoZone duralast battery has the best Consumer reports rating. This is one of the cheapest batteries that I have found. I bought 3 of them about 2 or 3 years ago for my crusier and they have been great and they were only about $50 apiece. I am not concerned about the price but I am not paying triple for a "name" brand.

Re: What's the best marine battery?
It depends on how hard you are on your boat.
With a lot of vibration or if you are out of the water more than in .. then jell batteries like the optima blue are the best.
The jells do have a down side to them.. it you over charge them they are instantly junk.
The older deep cell water/sulfide batteries you can over charge and they will keep on working.

Great point.

[QUOTE=nocigarette;4846618]Still doing Interstates, Never get less than 10 seasons. Grp 27 or 29. 2013 one still going strong today. But! I am in NorthEast with cold long winters which greatly help battery life.

[QUOTE=nocigarette;4846618]Not Optima blues. I have a stack of those worthless things. I have had excellent luck Walmart Everstart Maxx (Johnson Controls) group 29 and 31 marine batteries. Tried Optimas for my cruiser and my solar project and now I have 8-9 worthless lead boxes...
