Isn't there an "engine builder" (I use that term very loosely) down in north Carolina that has been known to work his "magic" on some engines? I'll bet he's got some good tips on tool usage.

The first time I encountered left handed thread lug nuts on a Volkswagen, my buddy and I used a breaker bar and a six foot length of three inch black pipe to break that bad boy loose. True story.

I tighten them up until they start to strip...then I back them off a 1/4 turn and give them some time to ''heal up'' before final assembly..

After I had trouble with a few coming loose I just went to my trailer guy and borrowed his 1" impact he uses for tightening on hitch balls I figure I can get 650 ft-lbs that keeps them nice and snug

I don't know if it is true but I heard some kid ran a lug nut on his finger with an impact. His shop teacher saw what happened and immediately grabbed his hand and backed the lug nut off with the impact. His reason for doing so was because if his finger had swollen there would be no way to remove it without an amputation.
