I have a set of 540,s in my F 311. I currently use the blue holley electric fuel pump at 110 gallons per hour. Should I increase the flow and install the balck pump that pushes abt 130 gallons per hour?Felt like i ran out of fuel on my last run so I backed out . Still tweakin the 540,s.I have new dominators 1050 jetted 87 squared.

Go with Aeromotives' system. It is far superior to Holleys. In any fuel system, just make sure that your tank pick up is large enough to keep up with the demands. There is no sense in spending good money on expensive pumps, if the tank has a 5/16" pick-up.

I'm with checkmate454mag. Installation/rigging is as important as the pump. (ie. hose/pickup size, location, low & close to the tank, filters, etc)
I've had better luck with mallory 110 or 140 marine pumps. IMHO, they're the best bang for the buck. The 140 is externally regulated and can be setup for use with a return line. In addition, they marine version is about the same price as the automotive pump!

Boatman,
I am running the same fuel system and have started to question it. I never changed the lines or anti-siphon valve to the fuel filter. Have you cahnged these? I think I may be rev limiting myself on the top end. I have been banging my head against the wall as the engine would pull 5500+ rpm on the dyno but can't pull over 5200 in the boat (SAME PROP!!!)
Any input?
Regards,
Zack
