I had Nickerson build me an HP Dominator for my new 540. It worked perfectly on the dyno. I haven't tried it on the water yet.

I use 1050 model no. 8082-1 on 540's. Jets are 92 pri., 94 sec. 6.5 power valve. Ran very smoothly with Merin heads and the cam you're using.

It has 94 all around with a 4.5 power valve. They did a bunch of tricks to the air bleeds and mixture circuits. I don't know how that would effect jetting.

Just send it to Dean and be done with it. I am very happy with the performance of his carbs on my motors.

I run a 950 with jetting 80/82 and 4.5 p valves.Always wanted a dominator but was told that would hurt the torque #.The 950 was from the last mota so the carb was free.Dynoed at 630hp@5700 and [email protected]g iron GM head.Would a dom make a big difference?

I would agree with RLW as long as you know EVERYTHING about your engine build to tell Dean and have all those Christmas bills paid. Otherwise there are things you can try yourself. Asking for input from others here isn't all that bad unless you go too lean and cook something. I'm running 89's all round with no lean-out and a clean transom. --- JP

I'm going by memory here so don't quote me but, a friend of mine had a pair of 540's with solid roller cams and Wilson Intakes. HP numbers were around 667hp. He ran stock Holley "marine" 1050's and had to jet it all the way to 99 all 4 corners. This was on the Dyno.
