Default Bravo1/XR parts interchange?

I have searched but not come up with a definite answer.

Do the Bravo 1 and Bravo XR drives share the same housings and bolt to the same transom assemblies? Just curious if you could upgrade the parts from a Bravo 1 housing to the larger shafts and bearings from the XR series.

Thanks

I think Merc offers an upgrade kit for the bravo 1 with Nitrated gears and stronger shafts but I don't know who much it is. Also I think Teague offers an upgrade package.

Prater,
Yes there are lots of the parts that can interchange, but not directly. There is an upgrade kit for the upper, switching it to new upper gears with thick floors and new cone clutch, shift linkage, new bearings, all new inside, you reuse your input shaft. There is also an XR propshaft kit for the lower, includes gears and big propshaft with a new hub for your Merc prop. A Teague vert shaft and cap and you have a nice drive.
If you want to go to the XR gears, it can be done, but you should look at a steel tower. I have a guy that can do that, or you can look at a new XR case. Lots of possibliities. If you like, email me and I can give you more info. I have been mixing them up for several years now. I have pretty good handle on what fits. I also set them up for proper gear lash in lower and the upper.

The XR/XZ uses the same transom assy, except that you need different gimble bearing and trim limit gadets. Also another Merc kit. Unless you use the small ujoint input shaft then you dont have to change the gimble bearing. Like I said lots of possiblities..
Hope this helps.
Dick
