Default Volvo Diesel's

I'm repowering a 26'Formula does any one know about the 160hp diesel Penta drive package.
I was at the boat show in NY the guy says these are better the the Merc deal.Any one ever seen these 5cyl. turbo engines?
How does the 160 out power 220hp v-8's.
Thanks

I'm not sure how much room you have, but check out these.

Have you seen any pricing--retail/street/wholesale?

How do prices compare to Yanmar -- if you know--

THanks

I am guessing at that horsepower you are talking about twins. The way that is figured is that you can only use about 70% of your hp at cruise with a gas engine. When you run a diesel the figure is at about 90% or better. When you figure it out this way you need about 170hp diesel to do about the same job. If when you are doing this you switch to duoprop drives, the cruise is even better enhanced. Where are you from? I may be able to give you pricing. (depends on your location). The horsepower should hold up very well against any of the competitors. These engines are full electronic control and super efficient.

You might look into using a single D6/350 or D6/310 DPR setup. They are all digital controls, so rigging is simple. Weighs slightly more than a single big-block setup, but is just a little longer. There are two different drives, depending on how fast you expect to go:

You didn't say if it was twins or single. If twins the D3-160 dp would do the job nicely, if single the D6-310 or 350 dpr would be great.

Just a suggestion, but typically 5 cylinder diesels have had vibration problems in the past. Maybe now they're okay.
I would experience these engines in someone else's boat before I bought them.
