Synthetic for T R S ??
#1
I have always used Merc HP thinking about swiching to a synthetic gear oil.Is this a good idea or bad one. If i go with synthetic which band would be the best for TRS drives?

The Merc HP (aqua color) stuff is synthetic. A good choice for most drives. I use Royal Purple 80-90 HP gear lube in my Konrads, on their recommendation. This would also work well in a TRS drive.

Hey Brian,
My drives arrived on Friday! I haven't seen them yet, I'm in Orlando for the week. I told the guys not to even THINK of opening the crates till I get back. I'm pretty excited to see what those bad boys look like.

Awesome Lofty. Won't be long before you're gettin' big air outside the Golden Gate with that Bad Azz Fountain of yours. Let me know how the project is coming along, and call if you need anything.

P.S. We want pictures!

Thanks Brian! I'm looking forward to getting this thing together. BTW I just talked to Paul PSA Marine, he says hello. Hopefully you guys will come out for some of the Pacific Offshore events this year?
I'll post some pics by the end of the week.

I have used both the Merc stuff and the Red Line stuff. I've never had a problem using either one. I will say that with the Red Line, the initial shifting is much smoother and there isn't as hard of a "clunk" when putting the drive in gear. The Merc stuff I can definitely feel/hear it more when shifting. Of particular notice though....I did find that when using the Red Line it the reservoir level changes quite drastically while cruising. It never made a problem or was a mess, but definitely don't fill the reservoir all the way to the top while using the Red Line. Just my $.02
