Valve seat question

Are Hardened seats and ductile iron seats (in an aluminum head) one and the same?

Thanks

I have aftermarket aluminum heads. I was reading the spec sheet and instead of referring to the seats as "hardened", they just called them "ductile Iron".

Trying to determine if they need upgrading or are they good stuff?

I assume it is a coating of the water jacket?

What about the seats BTW?

,The cast-iron heads manufactured by Pro Action all receive ductile iron seats, as opposed to sintered units. They are machined and pressed in, and have proven to be hard-wearing and compatible with leaded race fuels. They are comfortable running with either steel or titanium valves. Even when you pull the heads out of the box, you can feel the smooth transition between the iron head and the seat, and realize it is certainly no flow restriction. Pro Action's aluminum head valve seats are made of copper-beryllium, which run cooler in the aluminum heads than in cast-iron surroundings.

Re: Valve seat question

do you use them for both intake and exhaust seats?

Re: Valve seat question

OK I am not sure why the salt water should affect the valve seats unless you are thinking water vapor coming back through the exhaust.

Are the canfield heads hard anodized inside the water jackets too?
