Default what kind of engine wear to expect?

I have twin turbo 454's from 1980 with about 580 hours on them. What kind of wear should I expect to see when I tear them down? How much of a cylinder ridge have others seen on motors around the same hour usage?

Thanks
Pat

I'm not sure you'll find too many people with "twin turbo" 454's to be able to compare too!! What are they in?

In a 1980 scarab KV. I'm not sure the turbos would accelerate the wear. What I would like to know is what kind of wear others have found on their engines with hours around the same as mine? Doesn't have to be turbo or blower motors either

A few years ago we torn down a 330 HP Mark IV 454 with about 500 Hrs. It was torn down to do some performance upgrades, not because it was runnning bad. It was amazing the excellent condition of everything. It looked like it could have gone another 500 hrs. And this was an engine that was run WOT at least once every time the boat went out. Oil change, oil change, oil change is all I can contribute it to.

With todays advances in metallurgy and lubrication, you will be pleasantly surprised at the good condition you will find if normal maintenance procedures were followed
and nothing unusual happened to the engines. I have not found a cylinder ridge in years!
