Re: Will a cherry picker (engine hoist) work for pulling an engine
I used a cherry picker to remove two engines from a 40 foot fountain on a myco trailer. I made an extension for the boom so that it would reach over the transom. The extension was about 4 feet long with a 30 degree angle in it to reach over the transom. I had to be careful not to extend it too far. But the height was over 11 feet at full lift.

Re: Will a cherry picker (engine hoist) work for pulling an engine
what about just buying a chain fall from jc whitney for about $70.
find a good tree or a strong I beam to hang it from, or you can get real professional with a gantry crane. |

Take the wheels off the trailer and put 4x4 blocks under the axles. ????

I used a Harbor Freight 2 ton lift. It can lift 1000 lbs 117 inches in the air. I took a Big Block Chevy out of a Donzi 22 with one of these.

Re: Will a cherry picker (engine hoist) work for pulling an engine
I pulled the stock 330 from my 25' Larson Senza with a Harbor Freight motor hoist while it was on the trailer. Had to remove the oil pan/ pump after I got it off of the mounts before it would clear. Hopefully it will go back if I let most of the air out of the tires.
