Blower on 600 merlin???
#1
I have a 600ci merlin with 8:1 comp. producing low 700hp range. Should i go threw the hassle of raising compression or go with a blower, and if so what blower?... p.s its in a 29 fountain f1 and runs 90..

It really shouldn't be a reliablity issue as long as your not on the ragged edge and use good parts. I have had many blower motors with very little problems that weren't self inflicted. Plus nothing looks as bad as a big ol blower on top.
I actually mad over 1000hp with this combo with no intercooler but dialed it back to like 950 .Pump gas, no innercooler, but was a solid roller. It can be hard on bravos if you don't baby it.They make alot of TQ. That being said I would still bo with the blowers.

Thanks for the info.... Thats the power range i wanted to be in on pump, Im not concerned with the parts issue... but i like to run motors fairly hard, that was what i was worried about. but i think im gonna go with a blower anyway, i just wanted a little reassurance and to hear someone else that had that combo. thats my other concern is my drive, its a xz but my boat is very light and i cant afford a #6

I also have a 29 Fountain that runs 90. I'm curious why you want to go faster than that. The hull is a handful at 80, and exciting at 90, I can't imagine going much faster with this boat.

All that Torque on a 29 single would be very interesting. The single V's that run over a 100 mph are very special to handle that speed. I am not sure the 29 Fountain was ever designed for that.
