The Raylar BK101 kit is designed for a truck or RV and has an emmissions friendly cam and would not work well in a 496 boat version. I would suggest if you are trying to keep the costs in your budget that you consider the BCK102 kit which would give you about 450HP from a 496Mag motor with your stock mag ECM. You can run our BCK103 kit with 525HP with a change to a 496HO ECM or a reprogram to HO specs of your ECM by Dustin at Whipple. I just had a call today from a customer who just made this change over on his boat with our BCK103 kit on a 496Mag and he called to say the results on the water were fantastic. His boat gained 12mph and he has yet to get the prop totally dialed in. Needless to say he is thrilled and he said anyone who would like to call him for confirmation is welcome. His name is Young and he can be reached in the daytime at (805) 527-1270. We have a lot of boaters and references you can call for info or you can read about an independant test of our kit in the May issue of HOT Boat due out next week. I think there are go'in to be a lot of Raylar equipped 496's runn'in around this year when more 496 owners get the real "word" on our kits for the 496.

Does the BCK103 kit add any height to the engine?
buyafountain, how many hrs on your 496's? What about pulling and selling them and building NA 502 or 540? Probably end up spending close to the same $$.

I measured my stock intake manifold at 10" to the top of the plenum stud for the cover, and 10 1/2" to the top of the oil fill cap. The plastic cover adds another 1" or so.
My Raylar intake measures 10 1/2" to the top of the plenum and 11 1/2" to the top of the oil fill cap.

Just so everybody with a 496 knows the tallest point on tne 496 engine package is the top of the exhaust risers. Our kit and the stock cover are both about 1" below the stock risers.
If your engine cover closes over the stock exhaust risers it will close easily over our kits.
