Trim Ram Limit Kit Help
#1
MY TRIM RAMS ON MY2001 35 FOUNTAIN DON'T TRIM ALL THE WAY UP. I Found A Part # 15768a3 On The Mercury Parts Look-up Called A Tilt Limit Kit But It Does Not Have A Picture Or Any Other Information. CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW THEY WORK AND DO I REALY NEED THEM? I'm Afraid That It Is Going To Drag While Trailering.

they are a horeshoe shaped plastic piece that goes over the rod in the tilt clyinder, the only reason you would need them is if the drives hit a swim platfrom or something else on the boat, also if you have hydraulic steering make sure it wont bind when the drives are tilted that far up. other then that there is no reason for them but you do have to take the tilt cylinders apart to remove them.

I never tried to cut them in half, but I can't see any problems that could arise from that. Just make sure there is no debris from the cutting left on the bushings before you installing them.

I can't see the picture but I think that part is used when converting from a standard B1 to a X series drive to prevent trimming too high and binding the larger U-Joint assy.

the ones used in the bravo-x drive insallation are only about 3/4 inch thick and dont effect things that much, just enough to stop the ujoints from binding, the trim limiters for swim platforms are 1-3 inches long and I assumed that was what he was talking about when he said it looked pretty low, if they are only the thin ones and you have a bravo-x series drive LEAVE THEM IN.

Does anyone know how much ram travel there is if you have them? I would like to find out if I have them without taking the cylinders apart. My gimbals are the X series, but my drives were Bravo Ones until I changed to XRs.
Thanks
Thanks

I often wondered what in the heck those things were ????
