Default Coupler question

I have a pair of SBC's with Alpha's. I had a coupler go at the end of last summer and it's time to pull the motors and replace it. I'm going to do both of them. I have access to new or used couplers. The new ones are about $100 more, is it worth it or should the used ones be all right? I think these are the original couplers in the boat and it's an 86 so it seems like they last a while.

I have been there. Did one on a sbc/alpha a couple years back.

Technically, if the teeth haven't begun to get "sharp" you are probably ok, but I have this theory about once I have to pull the motor, I do the best part that I can get.

I did a new one. 1987 boat.

I guess for a hundred dollars difference, my vote would be new. Especially if the boat is a "keeper."

Good luck.

Exactly. Why go through the trouble again if it goes bad this summer.

Hey Mike, how is your boat coming along, is it finished? How about some pictures?
