YOU ARE WRONG!
Your opinion does matter!
Thank you for your input and putting in all the time and effort it takes to run each sanctioning body. Your team is a great asset to the offshore community.
I look forward to meeting your team in Pt Pleasant or Jersey City.
Good luck and have a safe season!

[QUOTE]Again I am a newbie and I know my opinion doesn't matter but I also feel I have no ego to distort my view.
This was the point of the thread, wether your a fan , crewmember, racer, owner, or just have a curiousity towards the ins and outs of offshore. I would like to see more opinions, because they are all valued. it is up to the race teams to provide the show to the Fans, which in turn gives the sponsors more reason to spend some money.
And MOJO the boat looked great in Biloxi, sorry you guys lost a motor.

Sometimes when things get to a certain point it is almost better to wipe the slate clean and start over again.
Forget all the various interest groups, I am speaking directly to the boat owners. You have invested a lot of time and money in what you thought would be a very pleasant experience for you....is that happening?
You wanted to go racing, that is why your here....well, Go Racing.
Take some of the old races and do them again. Look to the roots of what made this sport great in the first place. A bunch of guys out there battling the ocean, going as fast as they could with whatever they had.
Make just four simple classes.
Class 1 -30 feet and under
Class 2 - 30 to 40 feet
Class 3 - 40 to 50 feet.
Class 4 - Single engine boats any length.
No boat may have more than two engines, outboard inboard or sterndrive.
Boats may be of any design, cat or deep v or whatever.
Miami to Nassau....don't worry the faster boats will be equalized by crossing the Tongue of the Ocean.
Miami to Key West
Bahamas 500 miler
Around Long Island
Long Beach to San Francisco
Around Cape Cod
Everybody throws in $500 and the money is divided among the top three finishers in each class.
Magazines and other media that wouldn't look at the sport today will be covering it. Your sponsors will get more coverage from one of these old time races than they get all year now.
But the very best part....you will be doing what you always wanted to do....you will be racing.... out there where the ocean is clean, and it will keep you beyond the politics and all the other things that fill these boards now.
I raced over 30 years ago, and I can still remember the magic of the boat sailing through the air off the top of a wave. I can still remember the sense of pride bringing home a race boat right on the mark using only a compass. Don't miss out on creating memories of your own.
Just my two cents.
